Trees and Shrubs
• Continue to plant root-wrapped Roses, trees and shrubs if the ground is not frozen or waterlogged.
• Brush snow off conifers to prevent breakage of branches.
• Re-firm all newly planted material that has been lifted by frost.

Flowers
• Check corms and tubers in store for rot. Dust with sulphur to deter disease.
• Plan your summer display of hardy annuals and bedding plants and buy the seed.

Fruit
• Continue to plant fruit trees, bushes and cane fruit.
• Give fruit trees a tar oil winter wash to kill over wintering greenfly.
• Continue to prune Apples and Pears.
• Cut out canker and treat with a fungicidal paint.
• Apply sulphate of potash to Strawberries, Raspberries, Gooseberries, Red currants, Apples and Pears.

Vegetables
• Dig the ground over and add compost in readiness for sowing and planting.
• Prepare a trench 60cm wide and a spades depth for runner beans and add a proprietary bagged manure for a bumper crop.

Lawns
• Keep off the lawn in frosty weather.
• Lay turfs and repair lawn edges if soil conditions are good.

Greenhouse
• Open the windows on warm days or fit automatic vents to cut out the guesswork.
• Sow seeds of plants that take a long time to mature like Begonia, Lobelia and Geranium, in a temperature of 13 deg C (55 deg F).
• Remove dead leaves and flowers from stored Geraniums and Fuchsias to prevent disease.

Houseplants
• Start Begonia and Gloxinia corms into growth in a minimum temperature of 13 deg C (55 deg F).
• Keep houseplants away from draughts and direct heat

Don't Forget
• Treat sheds, fences and garden furniture with a wood preserver.
