Trees and Shrubs
• Check Roses for pests and diseases and spray straight away if necessary.
• Mulch newly planted shrubs.
• Prune laurels and spring flowering shrubs.
Flowers
• Harden off bedding plants.
• Sow hardy annuals for the autumn.
• Dead head spring flowers.
• Stake and tie tall herbaceous plants.
Fruit
• Thin gooseberries and spray against insect and fungal pests, but not on open blossoms.
• Put straw down for strawberries.
• Towards the end of the month thin vines and net against birds.
Vegetables
• Sow Beans
• Plant Brussels Sprouts.
• Thin lettuce, onions and turnips.
• Pinch out the tips of broad beans.
Lawns
• Lower blades on mowers and cut frequently in different directions.
• Apply weed killer.
• If dry, water new lawns frequently.
• Keep off the lawn if its soggy.
Greenhouse
• Sow seeds of rockery plants.
• Remove side shoots of tomatoes.
• Keep greenhouse well ventilated and check cold frames and ventilate.
• Take geranium cuttings for Autumn flowering.
Houseplants
• Increase watering and feed growing plants.
• Once risk of frost is over put out Azaleas and Illium.
• Gently clean leaves from dust with a new clean cloth and leaf shine. Don't Forget

• Check all wood fence panel for wear and protect with paint or preservative.
• Unravel your garden hose and clean. Service your sprinklers.
